A composition-based course that explores, examines and evaluates movement options and potential of the human body. The following themes will be introduced and explored: Body Awareness; Weight & Time; Space; Adaptation to a Partner; Instrumental Use of the Body; Spatial & Group Formation; and Expressive Qualities of Movement. Students will work within a diverse range of dance genres with the support of films, demonstrations, readings and discussions. Students will create and perform movement motifs, phrases, and dance compositions in large and small groups, as well, within the context of solo work.
