This course is an elective and cannot be used to satisfy the Science 11 requirement for graduation.
This course will give students an opportunity to learn about the diversity of life found in the ocean surrounding Victoria. Using our cold-water Seaquaria and touch table students will observe local marine life while learning about their general taxonomy, life history, and behaviour. Students will independently research local organisms or marine topics and generate content, including photos, video and artwork to be uploaded to our web site at www.vichighmarine.ca. Topics covered in the course are Oceanography, Marine Life and Ecology, Human Impact on Marine Ecosystems, and Aquaculture.
